This is one of my favorite films, and one of my favorite scores. I was nearly in tears at the end of Death is the Road to Awe. A fitting and worthy tribute to not only the film and music, but to those who have passed before us. Viking Guitar delivers, once again.
Favorite track: Death is the Road to Awe.
The soundtrack to "The Fountain" has always been a favorite of mine. Clint Mansell is an amazing composer, and this movie was an incredibly emotional canvas for him to work with.
I hadn't thought about the music in years, and was approached by a friend of mine to do a remix of "Death is the Road to Awe." This friend (Dustin Ross) and I have a shared tragedy from a year ago, and he was going to do an art piece to commemorate the anniversary. I thought it was a great idea, and this is the result. A portion of Dustin's final piece is shown on the cover of this single. You can view a video of Dustin painting it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHH1D-jIiaA
I ended up doing two songs, "Death is the Road to Awe" and "Stay With Me." Both have very different feels to them, but they're very different songs to begin with.
This single (EP, whatever) is in honor of two great people that lost their lives on February 26, 2013. To everyone reading this and listening to the music, please be thankful for those that are in your lives.
